All work is managed by volunteers who are dedicated to make the dogs as comfortable as possible and encourage re-homing.

They were found in a field as tiny pups in June 2010 being protected by their DAD! Yes their Dad, Mum was never found or seen but Dad didn’t dessert his babies.

They were taken to Sirius where the Dad, Skip, found a home pretty quickly in Germany. Since then Louie and Toby have pretty much been left to turn feral. As babies they were terrified of being handled and through lack of time they have not had much human as they became more difficult to hand and could not be caught are now. There was never enough volunteer time to make any special plan for them

Last year the lady who adopted the Dad asked if anything could be done to help the babies and a dog trainer drew up a plan to start and work with them. Sadly there were many changes at Sirius during this time and the dog trainer left so nothing was achieved for them.

Now one special volunteer has made Toby and Louie her project and a foster home was found who would take Toby and work with him for six months so………

‘Operation poodle has commenced

Toby and Louie have lived in the same cage probably smaller than the cupboard for two whole years with only each other for company.

On 14.5.12 they were sedated, taken to the vets, clipped bare, got a full health check which they passed with flying colours, got microchipped and their teeth cleaned.

As Toby was slightly more sociable he was chosen for the foster home. He moved there on Monday and we will have to wait and see how he responds

The foster mum knows it will be a slow job and she will work at Toby’s pace. This is one special lady

We will do a regular report of his progress and hopefully in time we can find that special forever home so Toby can start a real life that he has never known

We will continue to try and find another special foster home so Louie can have the same chance

Two special ladies Helene and Jean have sponsored Toby and Louie over the last year and this money has been used to prepare them. This is where sponsorship makes a real difference

Following the massive success of previous events with more than 4,000 people taking part, Street Life Festival 2012 will take place after public demand On Saripolou and Athenon Streets!

Sirius Dog Sanctuary will participate this year as well, with a kiosk. It is a great opportunity to make our sanctuary known to more people, attract new volunteers and sponsors as well to raise money for our 4leg friends’ needs. If you are not able to help at the kiosk, please come along with your friends and family, for a fun day:

Live Music – Graffiti – dancers – Skateboarding – Painting – Jugglers – Handcrafts – Free Drinks, all will come alive in the Limassol Historical Center.

Street Life Festival is a Must Attend Event – It takes place EACH YEAR end of April beginning of May for one whole day – Saturday – from morning to night! It’s a social contribution by Gifts and Gadgets Shop located on Saripolou Street and is supported by the Limassol Municipality.

Local and European graffiti artists participate
Watch and learn from Paparazzi (www.paparazziart.com), Narc from Thessaloniki, Freaks crew, Total, Oner, Ipoktipima, scarface and many others create huge graffiti or you can just get some paint and leave your original colourful mark for the world to see.

We urge the visitors to approach the city centre from the seafront road. There are various car parks by the old port and on the seafront promenade. From there the festival venue is only 150 metres towards the city. We recommend that you grab this chance to use your bicycles, skates, roller blades and explore the city centre of Limassol.
