Could you Sponsor one of our dogs?
30. November 2011 von matthew
There are many dogs at Sirius who may never find a new home and will see out their life in the Sanctuary. This is due to many reasons. Some are older, not very pretty, have disabilities or just not noticed by people looking to adopt .
You are welcome to sponsor one of these dogs and follow their progress and your sponsorship certificate will be displayed on the chosen dogs cage
Sponsorship funds are used for food and medical necessities, houses or doggie clothing (for winter)
Please choose the dog you would like to sponsor from those displayed below and complete the form and email back to

DOGS REQUIRING A SPONSOR
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DENIS
Denis is almost 6 years old and has been in Sirius since he was a puppy. He is a dog that is terrified of people even those who he sees on a daily basis. If a human tries to approach him he runs. He will circle and circle his pen in order to evade capture and will never give up. All the volunteers give Denis the space he requires to keep him comfortable in his surroundings. As he is so afraid of people he never gets to go out for a walk like many of the other dogs so his world is within the shelter
Sponsored by Shelly Thompson from Akrotiri
Dennis now has a new home

He likes to be with people and will come for a stroke when he is out of his pen. Steptoe is deaf. His age and his deafness restricts his chances of a home
Steptoe has now been adopted

TOBY and LOUIE
Toby and Louie were admitted to the shelter in April 2010 aged 3 months. They came in with their dad who had been looking after them in a field since they were born. No one knows what happened to the mother dog. They were in terrible condition when they were admitted as you cans ee in the photo. Since admission they have been terrified even though they were very young. They are very good with other dogs but they are still afraid of people. Sadly there is not time for the volunteers to socialise them due to the number of dogs currently in the shelter. They have been castrated. They need to be regularly groomed and sponsorship with help with this

BENTLEY tag 431
Bentley is a young healthy boy who has been at the shelter since late 2010. He was found tied to the tree one morning when the volunteers arrived. Sadly black dogs are nto always popular in Cyprus so his chances of getting homed are slim. He is such a nice natured dog he would settle into a new family quickly

Kyri
- Kyri was Born in July 10 and admitted to the shelter in July 11. She had a deformed rear leg which was removed in August 11. She made a wonderful recovery and she copes very well on her three legs. She is a super natured dog and she is loving and friendly. Sadly a disabled dog is much more difficult to find a new home for so she may spend many years in the shelter

SOSTIS
He is about 9years old and has lived in the Shelter for 7 years.
He was found living on a local rubbish tip known for being a dumping place for unwanted dogs. He was starving and close to death. He could not stand but luckily for him he could still eat and with care in the Shelter, he recovered.
He is now healthy but has a permanent limp. He is very well fed and a heavy set dog.
He has not very socialised in the Shelter and avoids most contact with humans. He is not aggressive just quite fearful of contact therefore it is likely he will spend the rest of his life in the Shelter where he is comfortable with the known routine. With people he knows very well he will go for a walk and is good on a lead. He is more comfortable outside the shelter than he is inside it. He likes his routine and to know what is happening to his and he does like his dinnertime
He lives in Pen 18 with three other dogs and Lucus has been his companion throughout
