FOSTERING – the facts! Their are certain dogs within Sirius that require fostering. Some are long term and some are short term.

Puppies require 7-10 days in a clean environment after vaccination to keep them safe and give them the best start in life.

Dogs that have had major surgery (leg amputation ect) that need a quiet space to recover for 2-3 weeks.

Dogs that have arrived to us in an emaciated state and require to be fed up and given some TLC.

There are some long term cases like dogs that are on medication for life, dogs that are traumatised by shelter life and dogs that require socialising. SIRIUS never dump a dog on people and expect them to re-home it.

SIRIUS will proved food, beds, bowls, leads, medication etc if required.

SIRIUS understand when things don’t work out. SIRIUS offers support if and when it is required. SIRIUS dogs need your help. Watch this space for the dogs that require fostering. It will be one of the most rewarding things you do. xx

Dog Walking Times

As the feeding routine of the dogs have chnaged it is now possible to walk dogs from 9.30am

If you feel you can help with walking some dogs please get in touch or visit the shelter

This exercise is vital to the well being of the dogs and the more dog walkers we have the more often the dogs get out of the shelter

The new rule change in the uk import rules has help us send several dogs over to new homes in the Uk

Martha, Petunia, Spirit and Tilly travelled to new homes found by the Uk pointer rescue organisation

Rufus

travelled to his new owner who met him in the Summer while she was on holiday and made plans for him to travel

Sawyer waited six months before her could travel to Somerset to meet his new family and his new sister who is also a Cyprus dog

We also have Lucy, Vegas, Jerry, Eli, Barney and Pany all in foster homes waiting for their flights next month to the UK

Sirius would like to wish all our supporters all over the world a very Merry Christmas

The dogs benefit from all the help and donations given and we could not survive without the dedicated help from all of you

The shelter will be open all over the holidays and some of our regular helpers are away so if you can spare and hour or two any morning please come along and lend a hand

We have added a new page where we advertise dogs needing a foster home

There are many reasons why this is needed

a sick dog that need to recover and monitoring
Dogs recovering from operations
dogs who need medication more regularly than can be undertaken in the shelter
Dogs waiting to fly off to their new home
Puppies while they have their vaccination and are protected enough to come to the shelter

A big thank you goes out to Ruth and Eve who produced the first ever Sirius calendar and raised an amzing 3000 euros from the sales. The money will be spent on dog beds to keep the dogs warm and comfy this winter, collars, vaccinations, stainless steel dog bowls and other items to put into place the new feeding routines at Sirius. Thank you to the sponsors of the calendar and to everyone who was involved in the production of them and to all of those who bought one. The dogs are very grateful.
